Research Focus

Compared farm-sourced natural coatings with synthetic coatings to explore more sustainable and accessible methods for artwork preservation.

Experimental Method

Tested 12 artwork samples using natural and synthetic coatings under good and poor storage conditions for 21 days, tracking yellowing, warping, fading, and mold growth.

Lab Findings

Found that storage conditions affected preservation more than coating type, while synthetic coatings provided only a small advantage under optimal conditions.

Survey Results

Surveyed 10 participants and found that 9 ultimately preferred the naturally coated artwork, with eco-safety emerging as the strongest reason for preference.
